Prepare Mentally and Physically
- Get plenty of rest, eat healthy foods, and stay hydrated
- Visualize yourself performing well and stay positive.
Know the Requirements
- Different levels of baseball have different requirements
- Make sure you know what’s expected of you
Show Your Skills
- Showcase your skills in all areas of the game
- Be confident and aggressive, and make sure to show your versatility
Focus on Fundamentals
- No matter what level of baseball you’re trying out for, fundamentals are key
- Focus on the basics such as proper throwing and catching form, footwork, and balance
Play Hard and Smart
- Coaches are looking for players who play hard and smart
- Hustle on every play, dive for balls, and take smart risks on the base paths
Be Coachable
- Coaches want players who are coachable and willing to learn
- Listen to their feedback and make adjustments accordingly
Stay Positive
- No matter how well you perform at tryouts, a positive mental game is key
- Don’t get too down on yourself if you make a mistake, and don’t get too high if you have a great play
- Keep a level head and stay focused on the next play.
Do the Little Things
- Be the first one picking up balls in the cage
- Have good posture while sitting on one knee
- Clean up the tee’s when practice is over
- Look your coach in the eye and shake his hand
